Summer Restorations: Post One

Hello, internet! I know I've been quiet for a while but I've been very busy with the end of the school year and all that entails. Now that it's Summer, though, I have time for a lot more fun, such as restoring some of the dolls and ponies from my collection that have been rescued from thrift stores and need to be cleaned up (confession: I have a box in my dining room that is full of these dolls and ponies.) I also have a few long standing members of my collection who need a little pick-me-up, especially in the hair department.

First up is a singing Gabriella Montez from High School Musical that I found at Goodwill. The dress and shoes are Barbie clothing from my secret stash in the basement and are not originally hers, though her earrings are original. I conditioned her hair and removed the marker on her leg using acetone.

She looks so much better!

Next is my DAC Snow White. (Thrift store find.) Her hair was pretty bushy and gross, and I was only sort of able to fix it by conditioning it. I haven't been overly impressed by the hair quality of the DAC dolls, especially those from the first wave.

It's better, but not perfect. It does look better in person than in photos.

Last is Lavender Cloud, an MLP eBay rescue. She was in pretty good shape, but I wanted to restyle and condition her hair.

I am very, very pleased with how she turned out!

I hope you enjoyed this post and I apologize for some of these pictures, which are a lot blurrier than I was anticipating!

    1. Thank you! Fixing hair is definitely a skill I've had to learn. My earliest attempts at fixing hair did not work at all... Thanks, you too!
